By accessing or using GotAJob you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. In these terms, "GotAJob", "we" and "us" mean the operators of gotajob.com, "you" means the person using the site, and "expert" means an independent professional we may match you with through our Career help service. These terms work alongside our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.
Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to use GotAJob.
- You can create an account with an email and password, or by signing in with Google or LinkedIn. Sign-in through those providers is also subject to their own terms.
- Keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account, and you should tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Give accurate registration information, keep one account per person, and do not share or resell access.
- You can close your account at any time from your profile.
Use of GotAJob
By using GotAJob you agree to:
- Submit only truthful information about job offers and your search.
- Not impersonate other people or companies.
- Not use the site to harass, defame, or expose private information about others.
- Comply with the Community Guidelines.
Content you submit
When you submit a story, you grant GotAJob a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store and promote it on the platform and to include it in derivative aggregates such as salary statistics and the Offer Index. You keep ownership of your content.
You confirm that you have the right to post what you submit, that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that it does not defame anyone or breach an NDA or other obligation you owe an employer.
You can delete your story at any time from your profile. Aggregated or anonymised statistics already derived from it may remain, and copies may persist in routine backups for a limited period before they clear.
Verification
Some stories are marked as verified. Verification means a user provided supporting material, such as an offer letter, a signed agreement or an HR email, and we reviewed it. It does not mean GotAJob guarantees that a story is complete or accurate, and it is not a warranty you should rely on for any decision.
If you upload verification material, you confirm you have the right to share it and that you have removed or redacted information about third parties that you are not allowed to disclose. We handle these documents as described in our Privacy Policy and do not publish them.
Accuracy and no reliance
Stories are self-reported by users and may be incomplete or inaccurate. The Offer Index and any salary, timing or channel figures are aggregated from those stories and are provided for general information only. They are not financial, legal, career or immigration advice, and you should not rely on them as the sole basis for any decision.
Our content and intellectual property
The GotAJob name, logo, site design, blog content, and the compiled dataset and Offer Index are owned by GotAJob or its licensors and are protected by law. You may view our pages and share links to them, but you may not copy, republish, or commercially reuse our content or data without our written permission.
Moderation
We reserve the right to:
- Reject submissions that violate the guidelines or these terms.
- Edit submissions for clarity, formatting, or to remove personally identifying information about third parties.
- Suspend or close accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate the guidelines or these terms.
Career help and experts
GotAJob offers an optional Career help service that connects job seekers with independent career experts, such as recruiters, coaches and consultants, for paid services like CV rewriting, interview preparation, salary negotiation and job-search support.
GotAJob's role as an intermediary. GotAJob acts as an intermediary. We introduce job seekers to experts, help scope the work, and handle payment. The experts are independent third parties, not employees or agents of GotAJob, and they alone provide the services. We vet the experts we match you with, but we do not perform the expert work ourselves.
Booking and payment. After a free intro call, we match you with an expert and send a secure payment link processed by Stripe. Each service has clearly defined deliverables that are agreed before you pay, for example a one-hour consultation, a resume review, or a file of submitted applications. Payment is collected up front and held by GotAJob until the work is delivered.
Acceptance and release of payment. Once the expert provides the agreed deliverables, you have 3 days to raise any concerns in writing. If no concerns are raised within that window, the work is treated as accepted and the payment is released to the expert.
Refunds. Refunds are considered only for valid reasons, such as missing or incomplete deliverables, and only if raised in writing within the 3-day window above. We do not provide refunds for dissatisfaction alone, for a change of mind, or because a particular outcome was not achieved.
No guarantee of outcomes. Career help is advisory. Neither GotAJob nor the experts guarantee interviews, job offers, employment, a specific salary, or any other result. Nothing provided is legal, financial, or immigration advice.
Your responsibilities as a job seeker. You agree to give the expert accurate information, to respond within a reasonable time so the work can be completed, and to use any deliverables lawfully and for your own job search.
Disputes and liability. If a dispute arises between you and an expert, we will act in good faith to help resolve it while the payment is held. To the extent permitted by law, GotAJob's total liability for the Career help service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in question.
Disclaimers and liability
GotAJob is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any content is accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GotAJob will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, opportunities or data. Our total liability to you for any claim connected with the site is limited to £100, except for the Career help service, where our liability is limited to the amount you paid for that service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
You agree to indemnify GotAJob against claims and costs arising from content you submit or from your breach of these terms.
Third-party services
We rely on third parties such as Stripe for payments, Cal.com for booking, and Google and LinkedIn for sign-in. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory rights you have as a consumer in your country of residence.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date above, and for significant changes we will give reasonable notice. Changes take effect when published, and continued use of the site means you accept them.
